At its December meeting held at Passalacqua Winery, the DCVA Board of Directors heard reports from several of its standing committees. Natural ResourcesJudith Olney reported that release of the much-anticipated County wastewater disposal Final Environmental Impact Report was postponed, presumably until January 2009. In the meantime, the Clean Water Coalition continues to prepare a multi-pronged response to what is expected to be will be a controversial proposal. Olney also reported that the City of Healdsburg was now contemplating a similar, but much smaller, plan to irrigate a Syar vineyard on Westside Road with partially treated wastewater. Olney asked the Board to support the Clean Water Coalition’s opposition to the City’s plans, and the Board then unanimously adopted a resolution to that effect. Planning & ZoningCharlee Schanzer reported on a proposal that the Board had supported two years ago for developing the old Soiland property at 555 Westside Road, subject to certain conditions. The applicants recently wrote to DCVA, stating that they had incorporated the Association’s recommendations into their current plans, and they asked that the Board write to the County and affirm the Association’s support for this proposal, subject to the property being rezoned from its present industrial designation. The Board passed such a resolution by a vote of seven to four. Other CommitteesThe Board also heard reports from the Membership, Legacy Fund, and Communications & Website committees.
