Arch-rivals, the Taylors and the Micallefs, will face off again at 5 pm on Sunday August 16th at the Dry Creek Winery, Lambert Bridge Rd, Healdsburg, in the annual Zinfandel Taste-Off competition for Dry Creek Valley amateur winemakers. Eight to twelve competitors will put a bottle of their best wine into the tasting which is judged by all picnickers. Each picnicker will use a chip to vote for their favorite. Did You Miss The Picnic? Print E-mail

The Dry Creek Valley Association had its annual picnic on Sunday, August 16  at Dry Creek Vineyards to benefit the DCVA Scholarship Fund.

Bruce Campbell from CK Lamb served both lamb and chicken. There were even a few hot dogs for big and little kids.  Dry Creek residents did their usual great job with side dishes made from many of our local produce.

There was plenty of extra produce neighbors brought to share and swap.

The raffle results are still to come but the raffle prizes, including a $1,180. tree service by Image Tree Service and a $200. local produce basket were favorites.  Lisa Hensen, Picnic Coordinator, was pleased with the turnout of almost 200 Dry Creek residents.

Lake Sonoma 50-Mile Endurance Run Print E-mail

“There was no shortage of suffering going on out there.”   Those were the concise words of Lee McKinley as he crossed the finish line of the second annual Lake Sonoma 50-mile endurance run. The race was once again run on the first warm day of spring.  OK, it was nothing compared with last year’s 92°F, but even 78°F can feel awfully warm in March.  And the course, with 10,500 feet of climb, is unrelenting. There are only three significant climbs – all between miles 19 and 28 – but the rest of the course profile looks a lot like the EKG of a crystal meth junkie who has just downed about four Red Bulls. The first and last 75 yards are the only flat parts of the entire run.
