The annual meeting was called to order by President Edwin Wilson at 6:45 pm.  Founding members of the Association in attendance were recognized.  Current Directors in attendancewere introduced.  Voting members in attendance numbered 54, two more than the 20% required for a quorum.

Directors up for re-election were introduced as well as two new directors proposed by the nominating committee.  The President explained the staggered two year term system under which some directors are up for election each year.  Under the Bylaws, the number of directors can be from 15 to 27. The exact number at any time is set by two thirds of the board and is presently 18.  Eight directors were not up for election.  One director retired last year.  Seven directors were up for re-election.  Two new candidates were proposed.  Continuing directors plus new candidates total 17.  Nominations from the floor were asked for, but members proposed no one for the 18th seat.

President Wilson called for a show of hands of voting members and members voted unanimously in favor of the slate proposed by the nominating committee.  Directors elected this evening are:

Yael Bernier, Bill Carney, Richard Kagel, Douglas Lipton, Judith Olney, Don Wallace, Edwin Wilson, Denise Frey and Doug Muhleman.

Outgoing director Marci Cook was recognized for her accomplishments over the years and her efforts and contributions to the Scholarship Fund Committee, which she chaired.

The evening’s speaker, David Manning, discussed the ramifications of implementing the biological opinion for the Russian River and its tributaries, of which Dry Creek was the focus.

Excellent food provided by members and wine donated by Dry Creek wineries made the evening memorable.

Lake Sonoma 50-Mile Endurance Run Print E-mail

“There was no shortage of suffering going on out there.”   Those were the concise words of Lee McKinley as he crossed the finish line of the second annual Lake Sonoma 50-mile endurance run. The race was once again run on the first warm day of spring.  OK, it was nothing compared with last year’s 92°F, but even 78°F can feel awfully warm in March.  And the course, with 10,500 feet of climb, is unrelenting. There are only three significant climbs – all between miles 19 and 28 – but the rest of the course profile looks a lot like the EKG of a crystal meth junkie who has just downed about four Red Bulls. The first and last 75 yards are the only flat parts of the entire run.
