How do I post text I have already written? Print E-mail

In principle, you copy the text from your source and paste it into the editor window of the website.

The problem is that in most cases you had written your text in a word processor like Microsoft Word, which means it is 'formatted' (with program-specific, proprietory tags). For the Web all content has to be (re)formatted with HTML tags. Although the publishers of word-processing software, like Microsoft claim that their programs convert any document into perfect HTML format, it is not true.

As a consequence, we ask you to post only unformatted plain text. How do you get unformatted text?

There three ways to do it:

  1. You use a plain text editor (like NotePad in Windows or TextEdit in Mac systems, or others, see below) to write your content in the first place.
For more information, see the Wikipedia article about this subject.
  2. You copy and paste your content from a word processor (like Word) into a plain text editor (like NotePad).
  3. You can use your word processor (like Word) and save your file as a plain text (.txt) file.

Once you have successfully created plain text copy and paste the unformatted text into the editor window of the online text editor of our website. Format your text it with the online editor. Find out more about how to use the online editor.
