You can search for your own or any other property using the Sonoma County Permit and Resource Management (PRMD) Website. Click on the steps below and follow the directions. (Hyperlink each item on the below list to its text)

1-3 FIND YOUR PARCEL NUMBER:

1. GO TO THE PRMD SITE
2. LAUNCH ACTIVE MAP
3.NAVIGATE IN ACTIVE MAP TO FIND YOUR PROPERTY PARCEL
4. GET A PARCEL REPORT WITH YOUR ZONING CATEGORIES
5.GET YOUR PARCEL’S PERMIT HISTORY

1. GO TO THE PRMD SITE

Click on this link to go to PRMD, the Sonoma County Permit and Resource Management site.
OR type http://sonomacounty.ca.gov/Departments-Agencies/Permit-and-Resource-Management/ into the URL line of the browser.
OR go to a web browser such as Google and search for “Sonoma County PRMD”

2. LAUNCH ACTIVE MAP TO FIND YOUR PROPERTY’S PARCEL NUMBER

If you do NOT know the Parcel # of your property, click on on the right hand column.

Even if you DO know the Parcel #, you can go straight to step 4 or 5. However, we have found that looking for the Parcel Number as shown below is more accurate than Street Address This is because the PRMD Search is very specific to how the address is entered: if you put in “Road” and the PRMD database is “Rd” – the database will erroneously state – “There are no permits associated with the address you entered.”

Scroll down and Press <Launch Application> button (Note: that you can first choose to run the Quick Start Tutorial)

Scroll down and Press <Accept> Terms and Conditions

3. NAVIGATE IN ACTIVE MAP TO FIND YOUR PROPERTY PARCEL

In Active Maps, you will see a map of the entire County. To find the parcel you are searching for:

– Use the + Zoom In and – Zoom Out to zero in to the location you want to review
– To move the map, use the N/S/E/W curser buttons OR use Pan (Hand button at top of screen) to more easily move around the screen.

It sometimes help to identify the parcel you’re interested in if you first go to Google Maps (hyperlink: https://maps.google.com/) and enter the address (including City) the top Google Search area. Google actually shows faint parcel boundaries. This helps you recognize where the parcel is located, the distance from an intersection or other topographic feature and the parcel’s shape/size when you go back to the PRMD Active Map.

Scroll in and center until you see the Parcel Map emerge
Find the 9 digit Parcel # = xxx-xxx-xxx that corresponds with your property.

4. GET A PARCEL REPORT WITH YOUR ZONING CATEGORIES
If you want to know the Size, Zoning overlays and Land Use category (example: LIA 20) or Well Zone (example: Groundwater Availability Area Zone 1 to 4) or whether in the Williamson Act for a Parcel stay in Active Maps

– Scroll on the map until only a few parcel numbers show and the one you want is near the center of the screen- Go to Left column Menu <Parcel Report>- Click on the square below < Select Parcel > in Active Maps- Click on Parcel Number – and your selected parcel will turn blue
– The Parcel Report information shows in the Left Column under the Parcel Number

5. GET YOUR PARCEL’S PERMIT HISTORY

Go back to the PRMD Active Maps page or PRMD Home

Left column Menu find <Permit History>

Enter the 9 digit Parcel Number and the Permit record will display
